Matt “Potty” Pottala was born and raised in Chicago, IL but has called Charlotte, NC home since 2009. His nickname is a bit misleading as he is actually a pretty clean comedian! He is considered one of the up and coming new comedians in the local Charlotte scene. Known for his relatable humor intertwined with his real life stories, Potty’s motto in life is “You can get through anything with laughter”.
Potty has been making others laugh since he was little. He was 1 of 5 siblings so he developed the skills to stand out at a very early age. He also has years of practice mastering his craft at Best Man speeches. He finds the humor in every situation and LOVES to get a natural reaction out of others by saying the most outlandish things. Besides comedy, he is a music connoisseur, Chicago sports enthusiast, local athlete and a mediocre husband. He is very outgoing and has never met a stranger which makes it feel like you are hanging out with an old friend when you are in his audience.
COMEDIC EXPERIENCE
During his 1st year of comedy, 8 of the 12 months were covid months. That did not stop him from learning, writing and performing. In his young career, he has performed in both Comedy Zone locations of Charlotte and Greenville, SC. He has been a part of online comedy shows, showcases and battles, and has MC’d shows which he put together as an avenue for other comics to find stage time during the pandemic.
